The Anatomical Shape of a Heart

synopsisIt’s cold outside, but the drama is hot!
The Diamond sisters jet to the mountains for spring break, and Savannah’s flirt-mance with an international pop star heats up as her pursuit of stardom succeeds. But is this romance meant to be, or has the right guy been in front of her all along? Meanwhile, Courtney takes the next step with her secret boyfriend—and future stepbrother—and as their parents’ wedding approaches, the pressure’s on to reveal their relationship.
Peyton’s figuring out a plan for her future, but she still feels guilty about getting her former bodyguard fired and wonders if she can get over him in the arms of someone else. But the biggest bombshell will change everything once again, because Madison’s ready to tell the huge secret she’s uncovered. And with the boy who betrayed her but who could be the love of her life fighting for his own life, she might need the Diamond sisters more than ever.

reviewI received a digital ARC of this book from Harlequin Teen via NetGalley for my participation in the blog tour. By no means have my review been affected and/or influenced.
I have not read the prior books to this series when I decided to binge-read Diamonds are Forever (at work). But let me tell you that I have always, always wanted to read the whole series! Anyway, in Diamonds are Forever, a lot of secrets has been uncovered and it’s time for the sisters to handle the sudden turn of events.
What I immediately liked about this book is how it (re-)introduced its characters to the readers. I got to know Savannah, Courtney and Peyton easily and tell their differences. I also like that previous events from the last books have been subtly incorporated so I didn’t really felt lost at all but what it did was to make me want to read the first 2 books even more!
I did have a love-almost hate relationship with the POVs in the book. It was narrated in 3rd person and shifts between the sisters and Madison. Love: I get to deeply understand what the characters are going through. Almost hate: It gets confusing, I guess their voices had to be more distinct.
There were also some parts where I felt conflicted especially with how the girls have decided to completely shut out their mother (just) because of a secret that was kept from them. To me, it really doesn’t justify anything. I know it’s hard to forgive and forget, but really?
But this book really lived up to what I was expecting it to be. A lot of drama, flings, glitz and glamour with a gossip girl vibe. I don’t know if it’s far from normal for rich kids to be able to do anything they want (tbh, it kind of bothered me with the limitless money + too busy parent) but it isn’t something new. Everything was overwhelmingly extravagant and fairy tale like with a bunch of drama added. But things like that is one of the main reason I read books, it’s an escape from reality and it fulfills your fantasy. I really enjoyed this book.

  1. First of all I’d just like to say that I’m in love with that cover! Gorgeous!! Anywho on the book: I haven’t even heard of this series before which is strange but I’m so glad I found your review of it! I love books with family relationships and even better the sisters have their own POV’s. I’m glad you don’t have to read prior books to understand this one in case I felt like skipping the others (but I doubt I’d do that). The story sounds really great with plenty of drama so i look forward to reading!
